Our Philosophy
At BEST, we strive to give young students a solid basis of experience and knowledge in theatre arts so they can grow and develop as performers.
BEST's first production was in the Summer of 2009. John Middleton-Cox, Performing Arts Director for Burlington Public Schools, wanted to create a summer program that would cultivate an interest in theatre and performance for the elementary and middle school student population. The resources of the Burlington Public School system support this program, making it a high-quality and low-cost educational experience compared to many independently-run youth summer theatre programs. The Fogelberg Performing Arts Center at Burlington High School offers a stellar venue with advanced technical systems in which student experiences can take place.
Highly qualified and professional teachers will instruct and direct your child in singing, acting, and dancing. High school and college students with demonstrated skill in theatre arts provide near-peer support and mentorship. At BEST, we pride ourselves on the quality of our production: award-winning designers create a stunning spectacle, and students rehearse the material intensively.
Emphasis will be placed on making the process fun and efficient. While the level of expectation is placed high, every level of support will be given so that your child can be proud of the performance outcome.
The performing arts offer so many ways to express one’s emotions. Students will be accepted into a positive and constructive environment, while being asked to work hard to produce the best they can.
